Why a video intercom and why choose us

A video intercom makes sense when it truly eases access to your home: you see who is ringing, you can talk to the visitor, open comfortably, and don't have to deal with technology every other week. That's exactly what we focus on.

Design according to the entrance, not a box

What matters is the distance to the gate, light at the entrance, cabling, and how the house is used. We design a solution that is convenient for everyday life – not just nice in a catalogue.

Reasons to go for it • backed by recent data

Why a video intercom makes even more sense today

It's not just about seeing who is at the entrance. A well‑designed video intercom saves you steps, gives you better overview of deliveries, visitors, and activity at the gate, and works best when integrated with entry systems, home cameras or sensibly prepared cabling for future expansion.

Convenience that people really use

A 2025 national survey in the Netherlands showed that users of smart doorbells most appreciate convenience and a greater sense of security. In practice, this means less unnecessary walking to the door, faster reaction to couriers, and better insight into who is actually at the house.

Delivery and entrance control even when you're not home

A 2025 USPS OIG report highlights that at least 58 million packages were stolen in 2024 alone. A video doorbell with mobile doesn't just give you an image – it gives you the ability to react immediately, talk to the visitor or delivery person, and keep the entrance under control even remotely.

Home cameras Internet and Wi‑Fi

It makes the most sense as part of the whole entrance solution

Recent security reports show that the best results come not from an isolated "box by the door", but from a layered solution: video intercom, properly solved lock or gate, sensible cabling, and depending on the house, integration with an alarm or additional cameras. That's exactly why we treat the whole entrance as a functional unit.

To help you, not disturb the surroundings

Research from 2025 also shows that people often worry about privacy with smart doorbells. That's why during installation we ensure correct viewing angle, sensible notifications, proper lighting at the entrance, and that the system doesn't capture more than necessary. For new builds or renovations, this is best addressed during preparation for cameras and alarms, or together with home electrical installation or, for more complex projects, with access control systems.

Where a video intercom most often makes sense

We don't sell a universal "box for everything". A video intercom is used differently for a family house, a flat, or when renovating the entrance. That's why we focus mainly on the customer's specific situation.

Family house with a gate

The most common scenario: someone rings at the gate, you see the image, talk to the visitor, and open according to the situation. Convenience for the family, better overview, and less unnecessary walking to the entrance.

  • video + call
  • mobile / indoor unit
  • gate release

Flat or smaller house

Even in a smaller property, a video intercom makes sense when you want to know who is at the door and have comfortable access via a unit or mobile. The key is to choose a simple and clear solution.

  • simple control
  • clean installation
  • reliable ringing

Renovation or modernisation of the entrance

When the entrance is already being renovated, it makes sense to solve it properly: video intercom, lock, cabling, and preparation for the future. The result is more aesthetic and without further improvisations after the house is finished.

  • better appearance of the entrance
  • sensible cabling
  • room for the future

What a video intercom should actually solve

It's not about the longest list of features. It's about making the entrance clear, safe, and convenient for everyday life. That's why we focus on the things the customer actually uses.

see who is at the entrance before you open

two‑way call without running to the door

gate or door release with one click

mobile and indoor unit according to your usage style

alert setup without annoying spam

correct placement for night vision and backlight

clean technical solution instead of improvisation

possibility to connect to other entrance components

What a solution for your home might look like

Every entrance is different, but to give you an idea: from a simple video doorbell to a more comfortable solution for a family house. The final design is always tailored to the house, the entrance, and your habits.

Start

Video at the entrance + basic convenience for a flat, smaller house, or cottage.

  • outdoor unit with camera
  • indoor unit or mobile access
  • door / gate release depending on the solution

Family house

The most common solution for a house with a gate and daily family life.

  • mobile + indoor unit
  • proper night vision and placement
  • notification setup without spam

Comfort

More convenience, more control, and better readiness for the future.

  • multiple users / units
  • integration with gate, lock, or entrance barrier
  • room for expansion and service

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a regular doorbell, a video doorbell, and a video intercom?

A regular doorbell just rings. A video doorbell or video intercom adds a camera, two‑way communication, and an app. In practice, this means you see the visitor and can open the gate remotely. For maximum security, we recommend combining these systems with camera systems for a broader overview of the surroundings of your home.

Does a video intercom make sense for an average family house?

Yes, it's a matter of convenience and safety. You don't have to go to the gate to find out who is ringing – which is appreciated by children or couriers. A video intercom is also an ideal complement to a Jablotron alarm, as it forms the first line of protection for your entrance.

Can I open the gate or door from my mobile?

Yes, if the system is connected to an electric strike. For this function to work reliably, it's essential to have stable internet and Wi‑Fi at the gate and inside the house. Then you can let the visitor in with one click in the app, even when you're not at home.

Do I need an indoor monitor, or is the mobile enough?

It's up to you. Some people prefer just the mobile, but an indoor unit offers higher reliability independent of the phone. During the design, we also address the overall structured cabling in the house so that both the monitor and mobile work without video dropouts.

Will the video intercom overload me with unnecessary notifications?

It won't, if we configure the system correctly. We set up detection zones so that the app doesn't alert you to every cat or car. If you are building a new house, we recommend early preparation for cameras and alarms, which ensures optimal positioning of sensors and the camera.

Can a video intercom be installed in an existing house without major disruption?

Often yes – we look for ways to use existing conduits or wireless components. For older houses, we often combine the installation with electrical inspections to ensure that the power supply for the new system is safe and meets standards.

Is wired or wireless better?

We prefer wired solutions because video transmission requires a stable data flow. If you cannot run new cables, we check the condition of existing wiring as part of electrical installations and inspections and propose the most suitable technology (e.g., 2‑wire).

Will a face be recognisable at the gate or door at night?

Yes, if the camera is correctly positioned. Mounting height and elimination of backlight are important. This detailed design is part of our entry systems, where we ensure the image is usable in any weather and lighting.

Does the video intercom work without internet?

Ringing on the indoor monitor works locally even without internet. However, the mobile app requires a connection. The stability of the outdoor unit's connection is handled in the internet and Wi‑Fi section, so that the video on your mobile doesn't stutter.

Can the video intercom be expanded later?

Yes. Our systems are modular. You can start with one entrance and later add another unit upstairs or integrate the system with Jablotron security to automatically turn on lights when someone rings.

How much does a video intercom with installation cost?

The price depends on the type of device and the complexity of the cabling. For new builds, we recommend looking at the inspection for final approval section, where we often handle the video intercom as part of the overall inspection report for authorities and insurance.
